The candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP),  Prof. Kolapo Olusola, has dismissed the result of last Saturday governorship election in Ekiti state, which affirmed Dr Kayode Fayemi as the winner of the poll.

Olusola, who said he would take every legal step to  reclaim his mandate, alleged that the poll was hijacked by those he called political desperadoes leveraging on “Federal might" to thwart the will of the people of the state as expressed during the conduct of the election.

Addressing a press conference at government house on Sunday, Olusola said he won the election overwhelmingly, claiming to have received more than 70% of lawful votes cast and winning in almost all of the state’s 16 local government areas.

He said, " I therefore reject the falsified results being bandied by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which purportedly gave the election to the All Progressives Congress and its candidate; Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.

But the winner of the election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the APC, has urged Olusola and others who contested with him to accept their defeat in good fate as he (Fayemi) did when he was defeated in 2014 by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Fayemi made the appeal on Sunday when he paid a thank you visit to the party secretariat, along Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti where he also addressed party leaders and supporters.
